When Pepper set out for the day, the last thing she expected was to come face to face with a pirate. But when she locks eyes with the Captain, she's ready to let him pillage or plunder whatever he wants. At least until his drow shipmate decided to steal her for himself.

Captain Joren Steele has a love for his ship, money, and females, usually in that order. When Pepper steps into his life, he's certain his love 'em and leave 'em status will remain intact. But when he discovers she's a victim of the drow, he has to make a choice. His ship or the elfess.

Steele Your Soul (The trouble with elves, #3)Steele Your Soul by Decadent Kane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Joren just had to make the usual delivery. Bodies and souls for the Drow King. Business as usual. But this time around Joren spots the elfess Pepper on the docks from there his normal delivery runs really bad. He has a choice to make. Save his own hide and ship, or the one elfess that just doesn’t want to leave his mind.

Once again Kane have brought a saucy little novelette that just keeps you reading until you reach the end on it and cry out with anguish. I wish Kane would go all bog novel and give us a few days of elf fun. Pepper is just another elfess trying to deliver her grandmother’s package to her, but when Joren saves her life she didn’t see the passion ignited between them. As for Joren, well let’s just say wow, and double wow. This elf knows what he wants and how he wants it.

As mentioned I would have loved if this would have been a huge novel because I know I would have been turning pages and never stop in-between. Kane have an amazing writing skill and beautiful imagination that could keep you busy for days. Short but utterly sweet as always.

Pepper slammed into something solid. "Oaf." She fell on her rear and looked up.
Joren stood in front of her, tall, dark, and so hot.
"What are you doing, Tide?" His voice came out low.
Pepper peeked behind her. The drow had stopped.
"She's mine, pirate. Hand her over. You work for us. You have to do what I say."
Joren grinned. "Ye poxy bilge-sucker. I don't listen to ye. I help your king. He pays me to carry the cargo, not to hand over ladies to ye." His chest puffed out, and he set his legs apart, ready for a fight.
The drow didn't comment. Instead, he stepped over Pepper and slammed himself into Joren as he stomped off down the deck. Joren didn't budge or turn around to watch the elf go. His features softened, and he bent down on one knee in front of Pepper. Her heart skipped for an entirely new reason.
"Three saves in one day, me beauty. Ya owe me." He smiled and held out his rough hand to her.
She took it. "Three? I recall two. The crates and just now. Besides, I had the drow under control, so really, you saved me from the falling crates." She smoothed out her clothes and flipped her hair back. She should thank him, but he was so smug, looking over at her as if she was on the menu of his sexual dining experience.
Joren chuckled. A low sound, which lifted his shoulders. "Three, elfess." He pulled her grandmother's bag of spice from his front pocket and dropped it into her hands. He winked at her. "Iffin' ye had that drow under control, then what ye be doin' at me feet no more than a moment ago?"
Pepper raised an eyebrow. "You stepped in my way." She tucked the brown pouch into her pocket. She wanted off this wretched boat. She turned around and stormed away. The last thing she needed was to encourage a pirate. What did they do again? Oh, kill and loot, or pillage and plunder?
A hand spun her around by the elbow, and she found herself face-to-face with Joren and those blue eyes. He grabbed hold of her chin with his fingertips. "Wait a minute. I don't even get a thank you?" He frowned.
"Thanks." Pepper set her jaw.
"I be needin' something a little better than that. Tide will be back, and I will pay the brunt of saving your sweet little ass."
"What do you want?" She tried to break free, but he held fast.
"This." He bent over and claimed her lips with his own.

Captain Joren Steele, pirate by trade, money lover, and swoon worthy. The kind of elf that makes an elfess scream out captain when pushed up against a wall in a shadowed corner. Always willing to save a damsel in distress, but never from himself. His 3 favorite things- His ship, money, and women. Usually in that order.

For two years, Clover has been at a goblin's beck and call. Two years of no orgasms. Until she heard a rumor the sage witch could help her break the goblin's curse. There's only a few minor details, like how would she find love on short notice and how deadly are nightshade berries?
Reed's life was simple, own a bar, walk to work, fight a little. He didn't expect to tangle with a wanton elfess who disappeared on him not once but twice. Let alone save her from a depraved goblin. He'd sworn off women like her for good, so why did he feel the need to protect her?

Did you always wanted to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?

I have always wanted to be a writer. I can't remember ever wanting to be anything else, except maybe good at math.

When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?

When I wrote my first story back in junior high. The 'novel' was only five pages long, but I was proud of it- I even still remember the name of the 'book'- it was a bout a vampire and I had titled it 'Brad' LOL

How long did it take to get your first book published?

Well I'm in my early 30's and I was published last December. So ultimately on the grander scale a huge chunk of my life- but it didn't take me quite that long to write the first book I have published. J

Do you do another job except for writing and can you tell us more about it?

I am also an editor. Mainly a content editor. Line edits and me don't mix well. But content and me are best friends editing wise.

What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?

My newest book is the 3rd book in my trouble with elves series: Steele Your Soul.

20 words: Pirate, a pissed drow king, a feisty elfess, hot romance and stolen souls...elves tend to find themselves in all sorts of messy situations.

Who is your publisher? Or do you self-publish?

I have a small publisher: Breathless press

How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?

My Novella's come pretty quickly. I can write one in about a month or so.

What can we expect from you in the future? ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?

More books in the same genre, I'm actually working on a full length novel for my elves too.

What genre would you place your books into?

Steamy, sexy paranormal romantic fantasy....and I use the term paranormal because where else would you put magic wielding elves, witches, goblins, and the like?

What made you decide to write that genre of book?

I was dared by a writing friend.

Do you have a favorite character from your books? And why are they your favorite?

From all of them? I think Joren is top notch up there because he's a ladies man...sexy and confident and looks like the very elfalicious Killian Jones from the TV series Once Upon a Time.

How long have you been writing?, and who or what inspired you to write?

I've written for as far back as I can remember...started in poetry and then worked its way to stories. My inspiration started with R.L. Stine and has escalated to the likes of Kresley Cole these days.

Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? ie You listen to music, sit in a certain chair?

Never music- silence is golden. And I have to find the names of the characters before I can write very far into the story.

Do you read all the reviews of your book/books?

I do read the reviews.

Do you choose a title first, or write the book then choose the title?

The title will come in somewhere after I actually start writing, but I always have it before I've finished the book.

How do you come up with characters names and place names in your books?

I love online name generators and name sites.

Are character names and place names decided after their creation? Or do you pick a character/place name and then invent them?

I pick character names first, places can come later- depends on my mood.

Do you decide on character traits (ie shy, quiet, tomboy girl) before writing the whole book or as you go along?

I do it as I go along- though to be more correct- the character shows me as I go along.

Are there any hidden messages or morals contained in your books? (Morals as in like Aesops Fables type of "The moral of this story is..")

I didn't add any intentionally- though I suppose if someone really wanted to look for one they could find something because everyone views what they read differently.

Which format of book do you prefer, eBook, hardback, or paperback?

I prefer paperback books. Though e-book aren't bad. Hardbacks drive me nuts.

What is your favorite book and Why? Have you read it more than once?

My favorite book- The Scarletti Curse by Christine Feehan and I have read it several times it's actually one of the only books I have ever read more than once. Why? I don't really know- the main character always calls to me though.

Do you think books transfer to movies well? Which is you favorite/worst book to movie transfer?

I think they can- but I don't read the books and watch the movies I do one or the other not both so it would be hard for me to come up with a solid answer here.

Your favorite food is?

Strawberries.

Your favorite singer/group is?

Pink

Your favorite color is?

Purple

Your favorite Author is?

Kresley Cole

Decandent KaneAn elfess in human form, Decadent enjoys dipping her fingers into the human realm where she took pen to paper and began the tales of the trouble with elves. Her obsessions include reading, Dean Winchester, and honey.
She will devour your soul with glimpses of the feral ridden drow elves, with their dark skin and soul consuming. She'll sneak morsels of naughty thoughts to you via goblins, and seduce you into stepping inside the elven realm where females disappear when lust takes over among other elfish troubles.
Beware the sprites.
Follow the wisps.
But never look a drow elf king in the eyes...
